The Olympics is an activity in which students can compare modern
Olympic events to ancient Olympic events. The website the students
will use is filled with great pictures and easy to read information.
A graphic organizer is included for recording information.
fractionsdropin.html Fractions is a web drop in that allows the students to gain an understanding about common fractions. Students will learn how to add and subtract fractions with like denominators. They will also learn how to identify parts of a fraction and how to change a fraction from improper to mixed.
electricitydropin.html Electricity is a web activity in which students explore what static electricity is and why it occurs. The students answer questions to gain knowledge. Then, the student participate in a science experiment involving cereal and a comb.
poetrydropin.html The Poetry activity allows students to learn more about the famous poet Jack Prelutsky. Students learn about how the poet gets his ideas, where he works, and much more. They listen to him read a poem. Then they follow his technique for writing poems to develop their own poem. The students can publish their work online.
booksdrop.html Students will have the opportunity to learn how authors and illustrators develop books. They will learn how Zoom Upstream was started, published, and marketed. The students end the dropin by writing a book review based on the other book reviews they read on Zoom Upstream.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about immigration to the United
States from 1607 to present day. They will work with group members and
develop a Power Point Presentation. Students will also compare the four
different waves of migration for similarities and differences.

the resources to learn how to develop a virtual fieldtrip for students.

The assignment will be a little time consuming, but well worth the effort
