OVERVIEW
History is written by the people who have
won the battles. When the Puritans arrived in the New World in 1620,
they were escaping the heinous persecution that they were being exposed
to in Europe. However, in 1692, the Puritans had become the persecutors
and this time they were persecuting other Puritans. The reason for
this mayhem was the belief that these people were witches who had brought
evil into their New England community. This event was one of the first
recorded situations of persecution of citizens in American History.
We will travel back to 1692 and attempt
to re-enact the Witch Trials, with a more positive outcome. It will
be up to you if we allow these men and women to be executed for their crimes.
Remember to look at the evidence and to consider your decision very
carefully.
