Game played: HEARTS
Reason: I enjoy playing Hearts both on the computer and
in real time.
The game of Hearts is a card
game of strategy that is
largely based on luck of the draw, like all card games.
Once the cards are dealt, you must select 3 cards to
pass to other players. The first three hands go to the
right, left and across respectively and then the fourth
hand you keep. The object of the game is to take the
fewest tricks and earn the fewest points. The cards
range in points: most cards have a 0 value, hearts are
valued at a point each and the queen of spades is a
haunting 13 points. You can win any number of tricks
with zero point value without being penalized. However,
if you take all point valued tricks then you have
performed a feat referred to as "shooting the moon."
When you do this, your opponents have the maximum amount
of points in a hand, 26, added to their score. Yahoo
also gives you the option, if possible, to reduce the
number of points in your hand by 26 instead of
increasing your opponents' scores.
When I came into the room I was rather full of myself
because I had alwas done well with the MSN hearts on my
computer and when I have played in real time. Yahoo
games was a little different experience. I did not like
the way that you could enter a room to play and could be
booted out or how sometimes there was a delayed wait
while waiting for a game to fill. I would like to say
that because they told you how many tricks you had taken
rather than showing you what cards you had taken in the
tricks that that was the reason for my loss. I think
that would be a poor excuse but possible. My best 3
game streak was played against: Mudbugla, Maxsave20 and
Krainwat. Not to say I one all these games but I was
more focused than I was in some hands.
