WAMU Public Radio - This site is great. I found a radio program about “Stories of Love and Altruism” told by three famous storytellers. These stories could be used in any English classroom to supplement lessons on speech and communication, short stories, and nonfiction. Besides this program’s usefulness in supplementing curriculum the stories could make great discussions for lessons and writing assignments focusing on morals and character development. http://www.wamu.org/programs/kn/04/01/01.php
Take a Musical Trip to the 1930’s – In almost all courses, in all grades, teachers talk about the Depression Era. This time period had a huge impact on the world we live in today from economics to family values. The people and way of life are depicted through the music coming from the 1930’s. 5/28/05 http://lp2cd.com/time/30s.htm
This BBCfour site has amazing audio of personal interviews with the most popular, famous, and dynamic writers of the 20th and 21st Centuries. Most of these interviews are with British authors, giving extensive insight into their personal lives, writing styles and inspirations. There are also a few American authors, like Maya Angelou, that have gained popularity in the U.K. included on this site. 5/29/05

BBC Poetry Out Loud - This site has an actual reading of the “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson recorded in 1890. This site will prove immensely useful for interpretation and listening activities dealing with a variety of British poetry from many time periods. 5/28/05 www.bbc.co.uk/arts/poetry/outloud
