  1. Book with one author:

  1. Article in an encyclopedia (with and without author):

"Mandarin." The Encyclopedia Americana. 1993 ed.

The Oxford English Dictionary. 2nd ed. CD-ROM. Oxford: Oxford UP, 1992.

NOTE that you do not need to cite the editor of the encyclopedia. If the article is signed, give the author first; if unsigned, give the title. If the articles are arranged alphabetically, do not give the volume and page numbers. For familiar reference works, the only publication information necessary is the edition and the year of publication.

NOTE that you must specify the edition if one is given on the masthead. Also, give the section of the paper (A, B, C, etc.) with the page number(s).
