Hello everybody!  Welcome to my web index for LMS 521.  This page has tons of useful resources for 1st – 5th grade elementary school teachers.  It includes links to great teacher sites, assignments, activities, tools, and lots of other information.  My page has links for all elementary subjects and grade levels – there is something for everyone here.    I hope you enjoy your visit!

 

 ELECTIVES:

4.     Field Trip:  This site is a collection of virtual history field trips that in or close to Maryland.  They all cover the 18th century time period and some come complete with activities and quizzes. http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/Virtualtrip.htm

5.     Worksheets:  Here teachers can find links to many great sites that contain FREE educational worksheets.  Some sites have just all subject area sheets and others also contain organizational worksheets for the teacher, such as calendars, charts, and checklists.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521worksheets.htm

6.     Plagiarism:  This site has some good tips for teachers who want to stop plagiarism from happening in their classrooms.  There are strategies for prevention and suggestions for what to do if you suspect plagiarism.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521plagiarism.htm

  1. Children's Authors:  This is a 5th grade level activity that gives students a better understanding of their favorite author.  Students search the web for information and then write in their response journal.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521dropin1.htm
  2. Colonial Times:  This is another 5th grade level activity that asks student to write in their response journal. Students will research daily life in Colonial America, pretend they were living back then, and write a letter about their experiences.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/dropin2.htm
  3. The Pilgrim's Voyage:  This is a holiday activity for 4th grade about the Pilgrim’s voyage across the Atlantic.  A map and quiz are also included, as well as Thanksgiving mazes.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521dropin3.htm
  4. Sharks vs dolphins:  This 5th grade level science activity compares physical and personal traits of these two animals.  A compare and contrast organizer is included to help the students.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/Dropin4.htm
  5. Multiplying Fractions:  Another 5th grade level activity, this time it is a math lesson.  The students will learn how to multiply fractions and then practice their skills by doing a fraction game.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/dropin5.htm

*  JOURNAL ARTICLE REVIEWS:

*INTERNET COURSE MODULE:

Parent/teacher conference research:  This activity requires the student to search the web for sites that deal with preparations for parent conferences.  Then a checklist needs to be made for the 10 best suggestions.  http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521course module1.htm

*WEBQUEST:

Pilgrim's Voyage on the Mayflower:  This is a 5th grade level web quest that is about the Pilgrim’s voyage to America in 1620.   Three students work together and independently to construct the front page of a newspaper about the voyage.   http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/millers/521webquest.htm
