Web Bibliography – This Web Link Bibliography provides important information to Middle School Students and Teachers doing research on World War II.  Sites are organized into five categories. 1. Important Battles and Events – This category includes sites that cover the entire war and links to sites on important specific battles.  2. Important People – This category contains biographical information on some of the key figures of the war.  3. Media and Propaganda – This category contains information on the use of the Media (papers, radio, posters, etc.) for propaganda purposes and war reporting.  4. Ethnic and Social Effects – This category contains sites that detail the war’s impact on certain groups of people.  5. 5 Dropin Activites:

 

Dropin 1 – This first instructional dropin introduces the Food Chain.  Students are directed to a website where they read about the five categories of the Food Chain and review a chart.  Students then answer questions and list two living things for each category. (Updated 10/31/05)

Dropin 2 – This second instructional dropin introduces the Food Pyramid.  Students are directed to a website where they read about the five groups of the Food Pyramid and click on word links.  Students answer questions based upon the website information.  Students then review a Food Pyramid diagram on the assignment document and answer questions related to it and their own diets. Dropin 3 – This third instructional dropin introduces the Louisiana Purchase.  Students are directed to a website where they read about the Louisiana Purchase and review a map.  Students answer questions based upon the website information.  Students then outline and color in the Louisiana Purchase on a blank map provided on the assignment page.  Students also label the states which are located within the Louisiana Purchase. Dropin 4 – This fourth instructional dropin introduces the topic of Gun Control.  Students write their view on the subject.  Students then do research on websites which condemn or support Gun Control and list five points for and against.  Students write a paragraph on their revised view based upon their research and include if their opinion has changed and why.  Students then write a one paragraph persuasive argument. Dropin 5 – This fifth instructional dropin introduces the Life Cycle of the Frog.  Students are directed to two websites where they read about the frog’s life cycle and study a diagram.  Students then answer questions and fill out a diagram on the life cycle of the Frog. (Updated 11/5/05)

Internet Online Course Module Link:

 

Internet Course Module - This Internet Course Module contains an Activity designed for Teachers on Spam.  Teachers review information on several sites to include federal and state laws.  Teachers visit two anti-Spam websites; select one and download anti-Spam software.  Teachers then write a brief essay describing their experience using the software; create a one page information document on the topic for staff and students; and create a brief email designed for responding to any sender of Spam. Collaboration – This Collaboration activity contains an annotated list of 10 projects in the field of science for Elementary School Students and Teachers to use.  Each annotation is linked to the science project.  Projects range from learning about the migration of Robins to determining how proximity to the equator affects average daily temperatures and hours of sunlight.
