Objective - Students will be able to perform a new technology skill which will
assist them in meeting Standard I.B. of the ISTE.
Introduction - Technology is constantly changing and
presents a real challenge to
teachers who wish to remain on the cutting edge. Many teachers learn
these new skills by trial and error, or they have colleagues
who share
their expertise. Some
school systems offer staff development and training.
However,
for teachers who do not have the above mentioned benefits, the
Internet
offers a plethora of tutorials.
Activity - Go to the following website –
http://www.pbs.org/teachersource/teachtech.htm.
Click
on the link “Tutorials.” Notice that the
website states that the tutorials
in this website were chosen specifically with teachers in
mind.
Choose
one tutorial on a topic about which you know nothing or very little.
Follow
the tutorial.
Assignment - Develop one instructional lesson to use
with your class that incorporates
the skill you learned.
Write
a 200 word critique of the effectiveness of the tutorial.
