The Egyptian Pyramids

Check out these great websites about the Egyptian Pyramids and learn everything you can about how they were build and what they look like on the inside. Try and answer questions like: Who was allowed in the Pyramids? Who was buried there? What did they keep inside? Who built them and how long did it take to build them?

Mummies

After looking at the Great Pyramids, do a little research into Egyptian mummification. The two sites listed below are great resources in finding out new information. Try and answer questions like: Why did they mummify people instead of just burying them? How did they come up with the idea? Did you have to be part of a royal family to be mummified or could everyone do it? What’s the oldest mummy we have found?

Now that you have learned lots of new information about Egyptian Pyramids and Egyptian Mummies I want you to print out the image below.

Please label the map of the Pyramid with the following:

1.   The Queen’s Chamber

2.   The Grand Gallery

3.   Underground Chamber

4.    Ascending Passage

5.   The King’s Chamber

6.   Connecting Passage

7.   Descending Passage

8.   Four Air Shafts

On a separate piece of paper write the steps involved with making a Mummy. Be sure to include the four major steps, but be more descript if you can.
