Collaborative Projects

Cyber School Bus – Human Rights

The topic of human rights and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights is discussed on this site. I find it most interesting and beneficial for students and teachers. I think the topic of human rights is most relevant in History class, especially when focusing on the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s. I think students should be in 7th or 8th grade on up to appreciate the topics discussed here.

Kid Link – Time Machine

I like this website and its collaborative theme because it allows students to identify their birthday and see what happened on that day all throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Each day has many events to learn about, some more interesting than others. I would use this site in History class for students in 4th – 8th grade.

Field Trip Earth – Elephants of Cameroon

This website is dedicated to informing web surfers about the elephants that live in Cameroon and how they are in danger of becoming extinct. I think this site would be most relevant being used in Science and Biology classes. Depending on the depth of research required, I can see this site being appropriate for late elementary students all the way to high-schoolers.

Cyber School Bus – World Peace

I would recommend this site to all people, teachers, students, coworkers alike. It’s a fantastic collaborative website discussing the idea of world peace and whether it is possible or not. I think it could be incorporated into a Social Studies curriculum easily but it think it is most appropriate for students in 7-12th grade to fully appreciate its complexity.

Postcards from America – Discovering America

A wonderful site dedicated to creating connections between the students and their country. Many people don’t travel as much as they’d like, or as much as they should, but now you can! Helps with teaching Geography and I would recommend its use in grades 3-8.
