designed to be a complied list of different websites all focused on the life
and career of Marilyn Monroe. It serves as a template for students researching biographical
information for different assignments.
Search Engines: When
researching different topics on the internet we need to be using different
search engines that will produce the most appropriate results for our searches.
This is a complied list of the top search engines for various subject searches.
Course Module: This page is a lesson plan similar to
those done within SLM 521. It focuses on budgeting and money management for new
graduates.
Web Drop-Ins
Number One:
The
assignment contained on this page is aimed at explaining the different bodily
functions that never get brought up in normal conversation. The students are
required to research at least two approved bodily functions and write a brief
essay on the process and purpose involved in each.
Number Two:
This
assignment is geared towards helping children understand Body Mass Index and
the daily choices we can make to attain and maintain a healthy body. The
student is required to calculate their BMI and do an activity depending on
their classification.
Number Three:
The lesson
plan incorporated into this assignment focuses on educating students and viewers
on the rising prevalence of HIV around the world. The assignment requirement is
in essay format with specific question responses expected within the answer
portion. Graph analysis is included.
Number Four:
The assignment
on this page is a great research project where the student will compare and
contrast two sites dedicated to the human body. They will have to pick the best
and worst site and explain why they liked/disliked each. The seven major bodily
systems are the focus of the assignment.
Number Five:
The great
mysteries involved with the Egyptian Pyramids and Egyptian mummification are
explored through this assignment. The student can visit several sites to gather
information and then complete a pyramid map and mummy questions.

Instructional
Citing Internet Sources (1): This is a brief summary of the proper
techniques used to document internet sources in an academic project. I
preferred to use the APA format over the MLA format and cited my final source
accordingly.
Instructional Activities (2): Working with children in a
mathematical capacity is never easy, but Algebra always seems to be just a
little bit harder. This site provides numerous Polynomial activities and
tutorials to ease the process for all you teachers out there.
Lesson Plans (3): This page is designed to provide
third to forth grade teachers with a variety of different human anatomy lesson
plan web pages. The pages range from basic human bone anatomy lessons to
learning the harmful effects of smoking on your lungs and circulatory system.
Collaboration (4): The focus of
this page is to provide five different projects to students that involve a
collaboration of different students in different classrooms. The distance can
range from different rooms in the same school to different schools in different
countries.
Communication
Rules of Netiquette (6): This is a brief list of what I feel
to be the top ten most important tips on sending emails. This list is geared
towards early Elementary-aged students who mostly email informally between
their friends and family members.
Utilities
Translation (11): This page is a list of five different
situations where websites designed for translation purposes would be needed and
appropriate. It also provides an English passage and its translation into
French and Spanish.
Miscellaneous
Online Shopping (8): This website contains a summary of
the different types of online shopping and what kind of customers they cater
to. Included in the table is a brief description of how the site functions as
well as two suggested websites to visit to familiarize yourself
with the shopping style.
Safety (12): The purpose of this page is to provide teachers
with a basic draft of a web safety agreement to be used within the classroom.
Legal
Internet Filters (9): The controversial topic of using web
filters in the classroom is discussed in a Pro’s/Con’s format on this page. The
page also includes suggestions for teachers to use to promote proper and
appropriate use of the internet for school related projects.
Multimedia
Clip Art (10): This is a compilation of different
websites that offer free clip art, backgrounds, and graphics to web surfers.
There are some that are educationally focused and others that are just for the
general public.
