Safety Agreement for Acceptable Use

I, ________________________________________ (the student), agree to the following rules for using computers and the internet at school:
a) research assigned classroom projects.b) send e-mail to other users.c) learn more about computer systems.d) collaborate with other students at a distance.e) chat (for example, in chat rooms and discussion boards), only if approved by your Teacher or Media Specialist.
a) Commit crimes.
b) Bully, harass or stalk others.
c) Commit copyright violations, such as illegal copying of music files, movies, pictures or software.
d) Transmit obscene, hateful, threatening or otherwise offensive communications.
e) Communicate or publish inaccurate, defamatory or racially offensive materials.
f) Invade someone else's private computer files or read their email.
g) Impersonate others online or violate another person's privacy.
h) Play electronic games unless authorized by a teacher.
i) Tamper with hardware or system files, including downloading of software from websites, without teacher permission or approval.
j) Upload or download any computer virus.
k) By-pass any school imposed restrictions on access to the World Wide Web.
l) Transmit via email any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail", "spam", "chain letters", "pyramid schemes", or any other form of email solicitation.
m) Promote or provide instructional information about illegal activities, promote physical harm or injury against any group or individual, or promote any act of cruelty to animals. This may include, but is not limited to, providing instructions on how to assemble bombs and other weapons, where to obtain bombs or other weapons.
n) Engage in commercial activities online such as buying or selling things, without permission from my teachers.
o) View adult pages, download or upload pornographic pictures or stories, or chat with adults.
p) Send in someone else's email address or other information to a "Crush" or "Secret Admirer" website, or to any website collecting other people's email addresses for any purpose whatsoever.
q) Attack other people's internet connections, websites or computers, or damage or deface anyone else's website.

I have read the Internet Acceptable Use Policy. I understand that the Internet is a world-wide group of hundreds of thousands of computer networks. I know that the School District and staff do not control the content of these Internet networks. The School District has my permission to give Internet access to my child. I understand that my child may keep this access as long as the policies and procedures described in the Safety Agreement for Acceptable Use of the Internet are followed.
