Dear Parent:
Here at ____ School, we feel computers and the internet are a privelege that enable us to support and enhance learning initiatives. However, the Internet allows people to interact with hundreds of thousands of networks and computers, including independent web pages, personal email, chat rooms, and interactive game rooms. Please be aware that because access to the Internet provides connections to other computer systems located all over the world, students (and their parents) must understand that neither the School District, nor any staff member, controls the content of the information available on these other systems. Some of the information available is controversial and, sometimes may be offensive. We do not condone the use of such materials. However, in addition to my responsiblity to prepare meaningful lessons that integrate technology into our curriculum, I will closely monitor your student's use of the system to meet lesson goals, and be available to your student in the event s/he does obtain access to an inappropriate site.
It is our general policy that all computers used through our system are to be used for educational purposes only, in a responsible, efficient, ethical and legal manner. In this regard, attached please find a Safety Agreement for Acceptable Use of the Internet.
We are asking that you:
This will enable your student to utilize the technology your tax dollars have made available. Please be aware that failure to return a signed agreement will result in your student's lack of access to our computer and Internet systems. Also, your student's failure to adhere to the attached agreement will result in the loss of privileges.
