In November
2004, we, as a nation, are going to vote for a President. In order to make a good decision about whom
to chose, voters must first do some research and find out what each of the
candidates has to say about many important issues. One way to find out more about a candidate is to visit his or her
web site. In this activity, you will
visit the election web sites of the two main candidates for President, George
Bush, and John Kerry. In order to
complete this activity you will:
- From your prior knowledge, write a
short essay on whom you think you would chose for President, and why. If you are not certain, explain
why. Please use the paper
provided.
- After writing this essay, please
visit the web sites of the two main candidates for President, George Bush
and John Kerry. Look over their
sites, and get a general feel for what they are saying.
- Then, look specifically at their
positions on these issues: the
Economy, Education, and the Environment.
Please take notes on each of the candidate’s stances on these three
issues.
- Please use the paper provided to write
an essay comparing and contrasting their positions on these issues.
- Once you have completed this
essay, please take some time to reflect on how visiting each of their web
sites has affected your decision about whom you would vote for. Then, please briefly summarize these
thoughts on the paper provided.
