Required Activities

Link Bibliography- Here is my compilation of sites on 20th Century United States History. I Plan on adding to the list over time, and using it as a teaching resource in the future.

 

Search Engine- This Page has my Best Of the Web choices in four categories: Kids Search Engines, News Search Engines, Travel Search Engines and Shopping Search Engines. These sites make the information you are searching for easy to find.

 

Article Critique- Here is a link to my Journal Article review. It examines how prevalent E-learning and digital content has become in our schools and how it has affected the way students learn.

 

Course Module-In this module, students can learn to organize their favorite web pages onto their favorites list and into folders.

Web Drop Ins

Web Drop In #1- This is a web study on Ancient Egypt. Students will have to answer questions on Egyptian history and culture.

 

Web Drop In #2- In this exercise students will familiarize themselves with Ancient Mesopotamia by addressing various topics, as well as complete a map activity.

 

Web Drop In #3-This assignment asks students to explore the causes of World War I, and how it developed into a global conflict. They will also consider how WWI shaped the 21st Century.

 

Web Drop In #4-Students are asked to read, and respond to three articles with varying viewpoints on nuclear arms. They also will refer to a map to answer questions on this topic.

 

Web Drop In #5-In this exercise, students will analyze Martin Luther King Jr.‘s famous I had a dream Speech, as well as learn about this important Civil Rights Leader and the events that occurred during his lifetime.

Collaboration-This page has collaborative web sites and projects that are appropriate for Social Studies Teachers, grades 7-12. Some of the projects may be modified for other grade levels.

 

Citing Internet Sources-In this activity you will learn how to cite internet sources using the Modern Language Association (MLA) style.

 

Communication

E-Mail-Here are ten tips for email success. This page is for students grades 9-12.

 

Email Distribution- I complied an Email distribution list containing the names and addresses of my six group members and my Instructor. I then sent a message to confirm the success of my activity.

 

Key Pals- Here you will find my five recommendations for use of Key Pals and E-pals in the social studies classroom.

 

Newsletters- Here are two electronic newsletters that I signed up for. One is a History Newsletter, which I find useful for Social Studies Teachers; and the other is a newsletter which has information that teachers of all subject matters and grade levels can use.

Viruses-This page introduces you to computer viruses, and other ruinous computer programs. Learn how to avoid them, and view a sample letter that you can send to virus hoax E-mailers.
