the link between song and poetry.

current living situation in a given country and determine if the country is
violating human rights. Finally, they will need to decide whether or not

people believe that discrimination no longer exists and that everyone is
treated equally. By examining and analyzing several charts measuring attitudes
about discrimination, students will draw their own conclusions about
discrimination in the United States and other countries. In a future activity
they will examine more information that will help them determine whether or not
discrimination remains a problem, especially in the United States.

include reading Homer’s The Odyssey.
To help students not only visualize the journey taken by Odysseus but also

Lit Trip using Google Earth. At each stop, they will record and analyze
different pieces of information.

environment and create a feature analysis chart. They then will determine what
types of problems or conflicts the different features of the environment can
create. A final research session will require students will produce a safety
tip list for travelers to their extreme environment.
