Was there ever a time in your life when you wanted to do something so
bad, but you were too scared to do it?  Imagine how slaves felt when they
wanted to run away to freedom!  Well, with this activity, you will be able
to take the role of a slave and make decisions on whether to escape or stay.
You will also learn what dangers they experienced while traveling on the
Underground Railroad.

1.  First, I want you to visit the site Underground Railroad Adventure and follow the adventure
through until the end.

2.  After you have experienced what it may have been like on the Underground Railroad,
I want you to apply what you have learned in class and what you have experienced on this
website and write to persuade a slave to escape from his master using the Underground Railroad.

3.  Your writing must include all of the required characteristics for a writing to persuade piece.  
Please make sure you use linking phrases, good capitalization and punctuation, proper grammar, 
and good spelling.

4.  When you are done with your rought draft, check your work carefully and then have a peer
edit it for you.  I will do the teacher editing when this process is complete.
