To eRead or not to eRead?

As technology grows so does the way we get information and entertain us.  Now instead with lugging around a bag full of books and magazines with you when you go on vacation to the beach all you need is a laptop or a digital eReading device.  There are defiantly some pros and cons to this updated technology.  By reading online magazines you are not only saving trees, but also you are getting the most up to date information.  By waiting for a magazine to come out the information may already have change or just be too old.   Using online magazines would be a great way for students to get information.  By using a trusted site you know that each issue will be full of useful information for your students.

With eBooks you once again you save trees!  You also have the benefit of have a lot of books in a small area.  If you are using either a laptop or a eBook device you can store several different books at once.  Now to the cons.  Computers and eBook devices are expensive.  It would be a lot cheaper just to go to the library and check out a book for free.  Technology is not always reliable.  Batteries fail or computers break, which can be expensive to fix.  Also some people find it hard to read from a computer and would rather have a hard paper copy to read from.  I would like to try reading an eBook just to see how I would like it, or if I would still want a hard paper copy.  An eBook reader may be a good gift for the upcoming holidays.
