The Oregon Trail
The Oregon Trail was a gateway to
the western United States. At the
time in 1843 the tail was the only possible way through the mountains to the
territory we now know as Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho and
Utah. For those settlers who set
out on a journey along The Oregon Trail they found the terrain and conditions
to be extremely tough. One out of
every ten settlers did not make to their destination. Below are maps from 1843 of The Oregon Trail and a map of
the trail in modern day. Visit HistoryGlob.com
website and take a tour of The Oregon Trail landmarks.

The
Oregon Trail Activity:
Draw your
own map of The Oregon Trail highlighting each of the stops along the way. For each landmark write three facts
that you learned. When you are
finished answer the following questions:
Would you
have liked to be one of the settlers who journeyed along The Oregon Trail? Why or why not?
What would
you have taken with you on your journey?
