Drop-In #4

In this drop-in, second grade students will visit two websites; one on butterflies and one on moths.  They will gather information from each site and use the information to write five to six sentences comparing butterflies and moths.

You've studied some  butterflies.  But have you ever wondered about how to tell butterflies from moths?  In this activity you will do some research to find out.  First, you will visit a butterfly website to read about and gather some information about butterflies.  Then, you will visit a website about moths to gather information.  Before you begin, print this page for your notes.  Fill in the information asked for.

First, read about butterflies.  Write down the information butterflies.

Next, read about moths; go to interesting facts.  Write down the information about moths.

Write a report, using your notes,  about how to tell moths and butterflies apart.  Use the special paper  when you are ready to write your sentences.  You can draw diagrams to show the differences.
