            Prior to September 11th, many traveled the United States and the world without any thought of their safety.  Today we still have fears of September 11th on our mind but are impeded with other fears.  The new concern for traveling the world is SARS.  SARS is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome that has affected over 8,000 people in 30 countries and has killed 800.  SARS began in China in November and has traveled the world.  Today there are 75 probable cases of SARS in the United States. 

 

            Directions:

 

You have been given the opportunity to travel to China over the summer.  This is an all expense paid  internship for your school.  Do you go?  Or does the fear of SARS hold you back?

 

1.      Review articles on SARS.   Review travel in China.

2.      Create a chart showing positives and negatives of traveling to China.   List a minimal of 8 positives and negatives.

3.      Review your chart and come to a decision on the internship trip to China. 

4.      In essay format, explain your decision and support your answer with information from the sites visited.
