The Chinese Zodiac is based on a 12-year cycle rather than our traditional zodiac that is based on a 12-month cycle.  The Chinese base this cycle on 12 animals that each show distinctive characteristics of a person born in that year.  Every 12 years the cycle repeats, always starting with the year of the rat.

Directions:

1.         Review chart depicting the 12 zodiac signs and their characteristics.  Review information that is appropriate for your year of birth.

2.         Choose 7 family members and identify their year of birth and their zodiac sign. Also review personality characteristics of that family member.

(Ex: mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandma, grandpa)

3.         After identify the signs of 7 family members, create a family tree depicting their signs and birth dates. (Note:  Teacher has stamps for each animal)
