Introduction

Our next unit in Physical Education will be basketball.  Before we start learning and practicing the necessary skills required to efficiently participate in the sport, it is important to understand the history and rules of the game.  Understanding the history will not only give us a better appreciation of the sport, but will also give us an idea of how the game has changed over time.  Also, understanding the rules will of course allow us to play the game in the correct manner, helping us improve our skill level.
