Meet the Media Staff

A bit about our Media Specialist...

Although I am new to the Media Specialist position at Spring Garden Elementary, I am not new to the school. Before accepting this position, I was a classroom teacher here for ten years. In fact, I began my teaching career right here at SGE! After completing my student teaching experience in fourth grade, I became a fifth grade teacher. During that time I taught ILA and Social Studies. My favorite unit was the American Revolution! For the past three years I was a member of the third grade team where I taught ILA, Social Studies, and Science. My favorite parts of teaching were participating in read alouds with my students and integrating technology into our lessons. While teaching, I enrolled in the School Library Media graduate program through McDaniel College. In May 2007, I earned my Master's Degree!

Our Media Clerks ...

Mrs. Jones is thankful, and lucky, to work with two half-time media clerks as well. Mrs. Luanna Stewart has been our media clerk for ten years. When she is not helping us out in the media center, you will find her working as one of our office secretaries. Mrs. Karen Lubin is our morning media clerk. She just joined our family this school year.

Another special someone in our Media Center is our school mascot, Ty the Tiger. He loves to watch the students enjoy their favorite books. His favorite book is Tiger by Judy Allen. He also loves to hear from all of you! When you and your family go away on vacations, he loves to receive fun postcards or poems from you. We always add them to our bulletin board.

Volunteers ...

We always enjoy having parent volunteers come in to help us with media tasks. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Jones by phone or email. In order to be a volunteer, you must have completed one of the volunteer training sessions offered by Carroll County Public Schools this school year.
