This link bibliography will provide teachers, students and parents with kid friendly websites for many different activities.  Teachers will find great resources and materials to use in their own classrooms.  Parents will find some education and fun activities for their children to do at home.  Most of the activities are educationally based and will act as great practice for the children.  Students can find so many different exciting things to do with these websites.  Children can find new books to read, games to play, and practice skills for their homework.

 

Teacher Websites – Great resources for teachers!

 

The Teacher’s Corner – This website is a great resource for teachers, administrators, and counselors.  The site provides links to teacher resources, lesson plans, creative activities, management issues, great books, and seasonal items.  Date visited: 9/17/05 - http://www.theteacherscorner.net/

 

Scholastic – A wonderful website for your classroom library.  Teachers get a great discount when buying books in bulk.  This website also provides some great resources for teaching in the classroom.  The site provides teaching ideas for grades K-12.  Some other great links to sites are included.  Date visited: 9/22/05 - http://teacher.scholastic.com/

Teach R Kids Math – This website is a super resource for elementary teachers and math teachers.  A teacher can access math worksheets, assignments, and extensive problem solving assignments.  Children can also use this website for their own practice in math.  Parents and children can take practice quizzes for many different math topics.  A great way to bring learning to the home. Education Place – This website is a great resource for teachers, parents and students alike.  There are different pages to open up depending on what information you are looking for.  Teachers can research education standards in other states and look for ideas to use in the classroom.  Students can play educational games and practice skills that they are learning in school.  Parents can access information on homeschooling and homework help.  Date visited: 9/24/05 - http://www.eduplace.com/

 

abcTeach – Easy to navigate and access material, this website provides many great resources for teachers.  A plethora of research materials can be found on this site.  This site provides many different templates for documents so that teachers can create their own to specifically meet the needs of their own classroom. Math.com – A great math resource for teachers, students, and parents.  This site has materials related to basic math up to calculus.  All level teachers can use this website.  It provides links to math tutoring and new ideas for teachers to make math fun.  This website has many different pages and is interesting to explore. learn4good – This website is quite extensive.  Students of all ages can access information on the website that will benefit them.  The site provides teachers with many different new lessons.  For children, there are links to games, toys, education, and other fun things.  This site is very professional looking and is easy to navigate. BrainPop – An educational website for teachers, students and parents.  Teachers can learn about statewide standards and get some great classroom activities.  Students can learn about technology, math, English, social studies, and science.  You must register for this website.  First Gov for Kids – A wonderful website with many government related issues for children to understand.  This website breaks down government agencies in simpler terms.  The site also has links to safety sites for children and safety activities. Very Best Kids – A unique website providing some exciting, educational activities for parents and children.  This site provides insight and advice for parents about raising their children.  There is also a page about celebrations.  Some great recipes, activities and crafts are described in details for many different holidays and celebrations.  Also a great resource for teacher ideas. 4Kids – This website is completely kid centered.  On this website parents and children can learn about Internet safety.  The site gives children some basic surfing tips and some interesting information about the web.  Games and fun activities can be found on the site too. Whitehousekids.gov – An amazing website all about the White House.  This site has information about presidential history, photos of the White House, a biography of the current President, and a daily children’s poll about a certain issue.  You can also learn out about the President’s pets, Barney and Mizz Beasly.  This site is educational, informative, and fun! Kids Care Clubs – Although you have to register for this site, it is a wonderful resource for teachers, parents and children.  On this site children can learn about current events and ways in which they can help in the world.  For this particular month, there is a large section on Hurricane Katrina relief that children can get involved in indirectly.  Students can create their own Kids Care Club through this website as well.  Date visited: 9/24/05 - http://www.kidscare.org/index.jsp

 

Enchanted Learning – This website can get a little difficult to follow at times, but it has a wide variety of activities and learning opportunities for children.  Kids can find information on this site about airplanes to butterflies.  This site also provides titles to great books for children to get at the library.  There are also seasonal activities that parents and children can do together. America’s Story for America’s Library – Children can find some great resources for research assignments and general knowledge on this website.  You can learn about the past, present, and future.  Kids can listen to music or watch movie clips about certain events in history.  This website is a great resource for the classroom or media center of a school. Exploratorium – Children can explore and learn on this interesting site.  You can find awesome science experiments and activities that can be done in the classroom or at home.  Children can learn about the science of gardening, music, and many other common activities.  It is also a great website for Christmas shopping.  There is a shopping area that parents can find some really cool activities and games for children of all ages. Claus.com – Meet Santa and his elves as they take you through the North Pole.  Children can explore the North Pole, Mrs. Clause’s kitchen, the workshop and the Elf Hall of Fame.  This website is so magical and fun for children.  During the holiday season, parents and their kids can explore this fun website. Snoopy.com – The classic Peanuts characters are brought to life on this website.  Children can read comics and learn about the author and creator of Snoopy, Charles M.
