I have created the following
bibliography of websites to help fellow teachers and students access useful,
exciting and enjoyable information about health and physical education and
sports and leisure. Teachers - make sure
you check out all of the websites on this page, as many of them listed “for
students” could also be extremely helpful to you. I am hoping that these sites may help to
enhance classroom discussion and participation by both teachers and students.

WiredforHealth – This is an excellent site of a suggested
national health curriculum developed by the Dept. of Health and the Dept. of

– This site includes over 3,000 free lesson plans and activities for
health & fitness, arts & leisure, math, science and social
studies. It also includes a personal TV
guide for your local PBS programming shows and online professional development

HealthTeacher – This is a website that offers a subscribed curriculum for
K-12 health. There is also a great deal
of free information that is posted here, such as lesson plans and content
information (very helpful toward studying for the Praxis II). Date visited –

LessonPlanCentral – This is
a site that offers free lesson plans, worksheets and web links for a variety of
subject areas including health and physical education. Date visited –

EducationWorld –This is
an educational website that includes six categories of helpful
information: lesson planning,
administrator’s desk, school issues, professional development, technology
integration, and EdWorld at home. I highly recommend checking out this
site. It has so much information that I
cannot begin to list it all. It also has
great links to other useful educational sites.

EducatorsDesk
– The Educator’s Reference Desk is just as it sounds – it references you
to numerous links about those educational questions you wish to ask. It links to professional journal articles and
reports as well as resource guides and lesson plans in each subject area. This is a very valuable, professional site. I give it an A+. Date visited –

Teachnology – The most helpful
page in this site was the list of ideas posted for behavioral management in the
physical education classroom. There is
also other useful information on this site such as lesson plans, worksheets,

NASPE - This is the official website for
The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). NASPE is a nonprofit professional
organization comprised of individuals engaged in the study of human movement
and the delivery of sport and physical activity programs. Educating the
American public about the importance of physical education for all children and
youth is a primary focus. Members of
NASPE include K-12 physical educators, college and university faculty,

ihigh – This
site offers info about high school sports around the country, as well as
articles about school activities, college planning and financial aid, the world
around us, and online fundraising. Date

KidsHealth – This site offers a bundle of great info for kids,
teens and parents ranging from issues dealing with the body and mind to easy recipes
for healthy foods and snacks. Also, a
dictionary of medical terms is available.

TheHumanBody – This
website was designed by an Australian named Andrew McGann. It is intended to help children learn about
how our body works. The information is presented in an easy to read format with
colorful diagrams to assist understanding.

SIKids – This is Sports Illustrated for kids online. This site is definitely for all the sports
lovers out there. Check it out for fun
after all your work is done. It talks
about scores and highlights of big games, has cool games and cartoon clips, and
has free fantasy sports leagues, including NASCAR. Date visited –

TimeForKids – This
is a good kid friendly news site. It has
one particular area called “Homework Helper” which gives very helpful hints for
writing and research. Check it out if
you need help on essays or book reports (and your teacher is not around or your

Teens4Teens – This
site is dedicated to those teenagers around the world who are
struggling with depression and related disorders, and who wish to find a place
where they can interact with others who understand them. There is information on mental and eating
disorders, self injury, drug abuse and sexuality. You can anonymously talk with other kids in

CoolNurse - If
you're wondering about it... they cover it. There are articles and advice on
every teen issue from sexuality to aromatherapy. Cool Nurse is a cool site with

and links to resources for just about any health issue - or crisis - that a

InteliHealth – There is a lot of information here
that might be useful for researching a paper for health or physical education
class. It lists many diseases and
conditions of the body as well as a medical dictionary and nutritional

NutritionExploration – This
site provides a fun, interactive website for young children to learn about
nutrition while playing cool games. This
