Games Online

  Mah Jong Tiles

I have not really played games online that much.  I began by playing AOL games since I had screen name from registering for AIM through this class.  I was playing the games that could earn you points.  As you earned points, you could supposedly turn in your points for entries into the monthly cash drawings.  I had actually been winning a lot of points playing the card game free cell.  I think I was up to around 80,000 points in two days (you start with 50 from AOL).  However, I found that my computer froze up an awful lot, and I was getting tired of restarting all my work.  I had to actually uninstall AIM.  So there was the end of that.

Just today, I went on Yahoo games at http://games.yahoo.com/.  Here I began to play the card game spades with other players.  I play this all the time at work with the kids.  I figured out how to get into a room and wait for others to join.  The game is a four player game.  You play with a partner.  I played with one partner for 5 games.  The game is played to 500 points.  The first game was close - we lost 465 to 535.  We won the next three games.  During the last game, I didn't quite understand one of the rules online so I messed up our hands.  He got pissed and quit.  So another partner joined and finished out the hand.  We lost that one pretty badly.  But overall, I will definitely play again.  I can become time consuming so I need to make sure I have free time when I am doing this.  And now I understand all the rules for next time.  There are different variations of spades and the online variation is the simplest.  I was confused because I am used to playing a certain way.  Some people are so impatient.

I also could easily become addicted to the puzzle games Alchemy and Mah Jong.  Alchemy is placing shapes and colors next to each other to fill in the grid and move on to the next level.  Mah Jong is the puzzle game where you match tiles so that they disappear and clear the screen.  I find these games relaxing, although Mah Jong can give you a headache from staring at the tiles too long.
