Search Engine Activity- This is my idea of the best search engines.  I listed the best all around, best kid search engine, best news search engine, and the best Meta search engine.

Course Module-  This is a course module about rubrics.  Students will use rubric creators to make rubrics.  Then they will write a paragraph about the positive and negative aspects of rubric creators.

Elective Activity-Clipart-  These are the best free clipart sites I found.  There are tons of free clipart sites.  The ones I picked are easy to use and contain a lot of clipart.

Elective Activity-Lesson Plans-  These are the best web sites I found that have lesson plans.  I have used each of these sites to find lessons while I am planning.

Elective Activity-Worksheets- These are the best worksheets and Internet activities I found to support Frederick County’s second grade curriculum.  I found sites for language arts, math, and science.

Elective Activity-Virtual Field Trips-  This site contains four space sites for virtual field trips.  There is a shuttle launch simulator.  There is also a trip to a space station.  The students also tour the planets and the universe.

Elective Activity-Safety on the Web-  This is a student agreement for computer usage.  It is also a sample letter that can be sent to parents.  The letter explains what I do with the Internet and what students will be doing with the Internet.

Web Dropins

 

Web Dropin #1- This is a dropin for second graders learning about life cycles.  It is a brief introduction to insects and arachnids.  There is a small follow-up activity for students to complete.

Web Dropin #2-  This is a drop in for second graders learning about life cycles.  This is an activity to learn about Ladybugs.  There are three activities for students to do.  The activities include learning interesting facts, anatomy, and life cycle.

Web Dropin #3-  This is a drop in for second graders learning about Native Americans.  This is an activity to learn about Native American’s homes.  Students will label a map and write down information about different homes.

Web Dropin #4-  This is another dropin for life cycles.  This activity helps students decided if they should squish a spider or not.  Students will read information about spiders and write a persuasive paragraph.

Web Dropin #5-  Would you like to like a Navajo Indian?  This dropin is to help students compare how they live to how a Navajo Indian would live.  Students read information about Navajo Indians.  Then they compare Navajo Indians to themselves.

Webquests

 

Webquest-  This webquest is made for second graders.  I would use it during the life cycle unit.  It helps students learn the difference between an insect and a spider.  Students will do research on the Internet and then write a paragraph about the things they learned.
