Drop-in Links

Drop-in #1 - I created an activity where the children visit Eric Carle's website and create paper using the same method. The children will then answer a few questions about the technique that they used.

Drop-in #2 - In this activity, the children will go to Jan Brett's site and print out the characters from her book the mitten. The children will then use them to retell the story.

Drop-in #3 - The children will use a site to make a real graph with M&M's and then they will use the information to make a bar graph and interpret the information.

Drop-in #4 - I made an activity where the children had to read two mini books and compare the setting in both.

Drop-in #5 - For this activity, the children will learn about the Monarch butterfly’s life cycle and then they will create one with the graphics that I have supplied.

Electives

Elective #1 Citing resources - I chose a website to help me teach MLA and APA citing methods and then I did examples of each.

Elective #2 Spyware- I downloaded a Spyware program of my choice and then ran it. I detailed my experience with spyware and my new found understanding.

Elective #3 Games- I had to sign into a game site and then play a few games and discuss my experience.

Elective #4 Teacher Made Web Sites- I chose two teacher made sites and wrote three commendations and three recommendations for each.

Elective #5 Instructional activities, worksheets, quizzes, and puzzles- There are ten web sites listed by category that pertain to one of the previously mentioned items.

Elective #6 Email- This is a list of ten suggestions for writing emails.

Elective #7 Email Distribution List- I emailed five people using a distribution list that I created, called 521waiters.

Elective #8 Internet hoaxes, myths, and urban legends- This is my personal experience with urban legends, after reading about them on the internet. Students should also be weary of these things so I put in some guidelines for them.

Elective #9 Filtering- I listed 5 pros and 5 cons of filtering and stated my opinion on the teacher’s role with filtering.

Elective #10 Lesson plans- I visited 5 web sites that had lesson plans for kindergarten teachers on the topic of nursery rhymes. I wrote a brief summary for each and added the sites address and the date I visited it.

Elective #11 Online shopping- I categorized 10 sites into 5 categories and wrote a summary of each category. There are also links to each web site.

Elective #12 Silicone Snake Oil- I read the excerpts from the book and posted my feelings and comments, pertaining to the topics Clifford Stoll discussed in his book.

Web Site Bibliography- A list of web sites that have activities pertaining to the Carroll County Kindergarten Math Clusters.

Course Module- This activity allows the student to create three folders in their favorites list with 20 school related web sites.

Submission Log- Log of all class work turned in throughout the course.
