Publications

Physics Education

This is probably the most relevant publication for my occupation.  Its articles deal strictly with techniques and theories on improving the educational process in physics classes.  It will usually have articles written by physics teachers on strategies they used to improve their classrooms.

“Enhancing mechanics learning through cognitively appropriate instruction”

American Journal of Physics

The American Journal of Physics is pretty much the most highly respected and commonly read physics journal that is out there.  One of the great advantages that I have with it is that it comes to my house, so I don’t have to work all that hard to read it.  It usually has very up to date information about some of the new research that is happening now.

“Enhancing conceptual change using argumentative essays”

European Journal of Physics

The European Journal of Physics is similar to the American, but just not as well known or as large of publication.  Its contents are very similar, though.  Most of it discusses anything new and exciting that is going on in the world of physics.

“Developing creativity of students in a computer-assisted learning process”

Physics Today

Physics Today is a very easy to read and simply publication.  Its more of a magazine for physicists than a journal.  It usually discusses things going on in the news or fun activities to do with physics.  It’s nice in that it is a very light read and provides cool things to do in the classroom.

“What Works for Women in Undergraduate Physics?”

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General

This is the most highly advanced and mathematical of the journals that I presented.  It involves a lot more of the data and analysis, which would be complelty over the head of any non-physicists.  It’s also not very applicable to teaching physics, but it is interesting to see some of the amazing things going on in the world.

“Dynamics of the classical Heisenberg spin chain”
