Summer Fun

Introduction:
What
do you do at your house on a summer day?
Do you have summer traditions?
We would love to hear about them!
Information:
You
will be writing to inform classmates about your summer traditions, or
activities you enjoy at your house during the summertime. Think about all the “fun” things you do
during the summer! You will get to
share your story about your special times with the class!
Activity:
1. Using the web site: http://www.planet.eon.net/~bplaroch/indexb.html,
create a story about your summer traditions, or summer activities you enjoy at
your house.
1. Follow the web site through all of the steps of the writing
process to complete your story. Follow
the directions below to complete your journey through this writing site.
a. Once you are at the site, scroll down to #6.
b. Click on #2. Writing
c. Scroll down and click on WritingDen.
d. Click on Tipsomatic.
e. Click on Paragraphs.
f. Click and read Prewriting Paragraphs.
g. Click on “Back”
h. Click and read Writing Paragraphs.
i. Click on “Back” – five times.
j. Write your story using paper from the Writing Center.
Remember to include at least 3 details.
k. Scroll down and click on Revising (with the moving
eyes).
l. Read the first, two paragraphs.
m. Click on “Back”
n. Meet with a friend and revise your story.
o. Click and read the first paragraph on Editing.
p. Scroll down and click on “Roget’s Thesaurus”
q. Under “Look Up,” click on “Dictionary”
r. Type any word that you would like to spell check in the
white rectangle and click on “OK”
s. Repeat step “r” until spell check is finished.
t. Write your Published copy.
You can work with a parent volunteer to type your story, or use the
paper in the Writing Center for Publishing Work.
u. Share it with a friend.
2. Use the rubric below to grade your story before you turn it
in.

points = Followed all of the steps of the writing process. Wrote an interesting story with at least 3
details.

point = Followed most of the steps of the writing process. Wrote an interesting
