Translation
Introduction:
Today’s technology is exciting for teachers, parents and students. With just a push of a button, or a click of a mouse, we can better communicate with each other. Part of communicating, particularly in schools today, is learning to speak the language of the students. Technology can aid in this effort by translating our written words into whatever language is native to our students.
Uses For Translation:
1. We have an increasing number of students who use English as a second language so translators can aid in ESL classes.
2. Translators can be book marked, on the classroom computer, for use with a student at any time a student or a teacher needs a word to be better understood.
3. Parent Volunteers can help non-English speaking students using Translators.
4. It would build students’ self-esteem to be in an environment whereby they are being understood.
5. Teachers can be better prepared for “all” students.
6. Teachers can translate parent letters so all parents get the same information.
7. As other cultures are studied within the classroom, students can be exposed to their language as well.
