Drop-in #5

                             Australian Fun

Introduction:

If you could travel the continent of Australia, where would you go?  Would you be interested in the Outback and the customs of the Aborigines?  Would you stay on the coast and visit the Sidney Opera House?  Can you imagine the types of animals you might see?

Information:

Australia has unique animals living in the Outback region of the continent.   There are also many types of animals native to Australia that we only see in zoos in America.  Depending on where you visit in Australia, you could see snakes, sheep, koalas, platypus, and kangaroos, along with other interesting animals.  Australia also has fascinating sites to visit that we do not have in America.

Activity:

2.      Take notes, by creating your own organizer, about the places you are

interested in visiting, about the animals you would see, about any other

fascinating facts (food, language, Aborigines) you might share with other

             second graders.

3.      You will be creating a brochure, to share with the class, persuading us to visit
