Tips on detecting Viruses and what to do:

We receive email address that we normally don't recognize everyday.  Either we disregard them as junk mail or some may open them to win the prize or read the contents to see what they're advertising.  By doing this, we allow companies to pollute our server with junk mail that may eventually lead to virusus invading our system and creating trouble.  Here are some guildelines and tips to follow to try to prevent viruses.


1. DO NOT open mail that we do not recognize, DO NOT open attachments to addresses we do not recognize, and DO NOT forward junk email to people in our address lists.  This will only cause increase the possibility of spreading a viruse throught our computers and our friends and families computer.

2. You can add Anti-virus software.  It must be new and you have to remembet to update virus definitions

3. You can add Firewall software that will limit hackers who are trying to invade your computer or control software from slipping in unaware to break your system and cause problems

4. You can also install Spyware and Advance that will detect, prevent, and remove viruses.  This system constantly needs to be updated weekly.

5. It's important to report the IP address and message to the Internet Server because the rest of your friends and family members who are in your address book will be notified about the virus as well.

6. Watch out for perfixes, some viruses will be sent in the form of management, administration, staff, noreply, or support to trick you into opening the site.  Ex: management@yahoo.com, staff@hotmail.com, administration@aol.com.  Do not open these emails.

7. You can check the IP address at Anti-spam link and www.checkdomain.com to verifty the header and web address to make sure it is something you can open.

8. When sending messages to everyone in your message book, you should send it by Blind Carbon Copy "Bcc"  This is so everyones name and email address is not shown to everyone on the list.  This avoids emails being given out freely to people who don't know each other.
