Dear Parent,

The use of Internet is a privilege in my classroom.  If used correctly, it can enhance a student's knowledge and understand of any given material.  That’s why here at Gateway we allow students the use of Internet access.  This is what the school system does to provide your student with safe access to the Internet.  Our computers are installed with blocking software that prohibits students visiting sites with offensive language and inappropriate pictures.  We prohibit the use of chat rooms and websites were students could buy products off of.  In addition, students are not allowed to download games or music to any computer.  These rules and regulations have been implemented to provide your child with safe and appropriate Internet use.  This is what the school provides, the list below is some safety features that I go over with my students so they are aware of the dangers involved with browsing the Internet.

The following are items that I go over with students before using the Internet

These are subjects important to discuss with all students who are about to use the Internet for research or for recreational use.  As a class, we go over each topic and come to an agreement over the Internet policy the school implements.  If any practitioner abuses the privilege of the Internet, they will not be allowed on the Internet.  If you have any questions are concerns relating to this topic, please feel free to contact me at school.  Thank you for your time and support in this matter.

Sincerely,

Lauren Henry
