An activity to categorize titles into the general categories of the Dewey Decimal System. Then, students show their understanding through the reversing of this activity in which they devise fictitious titles that would be found in the appropriate sections.

Students learn about the lesser known Library of Congress classification system. After reading the given material, they interpret this through a comparison and contrast chart.

First, students visit a website where they can access a sign language dictionary and watch clips of a man performing select signs. Then, students create their own visuals by illustrating three simple phrases in American Sign Language.

Web Cam Activity
After exploration of web cams, I discovered this form of technological media is not found frequently enough to be as helpful across curricular areas as other electronic formats. Most often, webcams are used for weather forecasts. However there are some very useful sites with webcams such as the Washington Zoo and the Library of Congress website.
