Nutrition

Grades 9-12

The key aspect of nutrition is one’s diet.  To help you know what to eat the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come up with a Food Guide Pyramid.  Click on the picture below to learn about the food pyramid.  After reading the information answer the following questions in your journals.

1.  Gather a sample daily diet for yourself.  Be honest!

2.  Classify the foods into the categories of the food guide pyramid.

3.  Select a diet from the 3 choices the best represents your needs.  Why did you choose that diet?

4.  Compare each section of the food guide pyramid to your data and the requirements for your diet?

5.  Do you fulfill the requirements suggested by the FDA and your diet? If not list ways to improve in the sections that you are deficient in?

6.  Organize this data into a double bar graph.  In a paragraph, discuss your results.
