On-Line Games

My first experience with on-line games was not a successful one.  I choose to play chess and at games.yahoo.com.  I was able to log in using my screen name and password.  I then had to wait for three minutes for something to load.  The list of games was quite extensive so I choose chess.  I had trouble joining a game because I could not find the start or sit buttons.  After being “booted” from three games I had my match.   I was unsure of how to pick an amateur opponent to match my abilities and wound up playing some computer game professional.  They beat me easily and wrote some “smart” comments about my abilities in the chat boxes.  I tried to play the same opponent a second time and was beaten easily again.  I decided to find someone else to play.  As I looked clumsily at the list of games going on, some brave soul invited me to play them.  They were not as skillful and we played to a stalemate.  In the middle of the second match I decided that I had wasted enough time and quit.

This will be my first and last visit to the world of on-line games.  I do not play video games and have no desire to start sitting at the computer and wasting my life.  I do not understand how people can get so addicted to playing these games.  I do not even use the games that came with my computer.  In fact, I have deleted most of them.  I think that I will stick with a few games of solitaire when I need a break from work.  Other than that, I have no use for these gaming sites.
