The Internet in school can be challenging to use when it is so easy to access inappropriate material. Misuse of the Internet is a growing concern in schools and in the workplace. The value of the Internet outweighs the negatives that it can also bring. The Internet can enrich the learning experiences of the students and make the jobs of teachers easier and more productive. Teachers need to monitor their use of the Internet and have high moral standards. They need to realize that the Internet is a tool and should be used as one in the workplace. Their Internet service is provided to them so that they can be more efficient and better educators. Teachers need to understand that their account and e-mail is not private and can and will be monitored. School leaders need to get their policies in order to assure that the negative aspects of the Internet do not come into play.

This was an interesting and informative article, for a school administrator. I had hoped for information for teachers on how to use the Internet in the classroom. Their information seems to be common sense for most people. I would figure that most people would understand this. I realize that some people will use the Internet for inappropriate activities. We need to remember that these people are teachers and working with our kids. It is my feeling that they do not belong in this profession if the violate these policies. They are with your kids for eight hours a day.
