Introduction

Games are a great way to incorporate the skills we have learned throughout the year.  Games are supposed to be

fun, focused, and a great way to interact with your peers.  Each game we play in class focuses on several skills at

a time.  Some of the games we have played so far have focused on Locomotor Skills, Fine Motor

Skills, Gross Motor Skills, and many more.  In groups of 3 chosen by the teacher, you will have the

opportunity to be the teacher on a Friday.  In order to do this, your group must create a game for the class using the

information below.

THE TASK

In this exercise you will use the Internet resources below to create a game appropriate for the entire class.  The game must incorporate six of the following types of activity:

Locomotor- stepping, walking, jumping, skipping, sliding, leaping, marching, and galloping.

Chase/Flee/Dodge- Tag, Mad Dash, Dodgeball.

Cooperative- Must be a team game.

Effort- Pushing or Pulling.

Fitness- Some type of movement or exercise.

Throwing/Catching- Can be a modified version on softball or football.

Striking with an Implement- A ball or object is hit with a piece of equipment such as a bat or a stick.

Dribbling with hands or feet- Can be a modified version of soccer or basketball.

THE PROCESS

1. First you’ll need to brainstorm ideas for a game topic as a group.

2.    Once you decide on the type of game you want to create you can use this site for guidance PE ZONE.

3.    Put together a Word document with the following information:

-The name of the game.

-The type of game and what kind of activity it entails.

-The rules to the game.

-The time limit to the game.

-The number of players required.

-The equipment necessary.

-The type of playing field (gym, soccer field, playground, etc.).

-Explain the scoring process.

4.    Once you have finished your group must present your game to me on the date I have assigned.  I will offer suggestions as to how to improve your game if needed.  After the game is approved we will schedule a date to play your game in class.
