Comparing Exchange Rates

 

 

This web drop-in is designed for a 7th grade Math class studying the exchange rate.

 

Introduction:

The exchange rate is always fluctuating.  As you know, the dollar is the acceptable currency in the United States.  Different currency is used in different parts of the world.

 

Information:

We will compare the American dollar to five other currencies around the world.

 

Activity:

 

1.       Go to the following website: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

2.       Enter the following information:

          I want to convert: leave the amount as 1

          Of this type of currency: Select USD United States Dollar

          Into this type of currency:

          a)       Euro – record number in table below

          b)      CAD - Canada Dollars

          c)       GBP - United Kingdom Pounds

          d)       DEM – Germany Deutsche Marks
