Virtual Fieldtrips

We are currently studying the sea life unit in Science.  Since we can’t physically visit aquariums we will take a virtual tour of aquariums in different sections of the country to study marine life more closely.  So, let’s sail away on our marine adventure…

First stop…The National Aquarium in Baltimorehttp://aqua.org

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is close to home and one of the most famous aquariums in the country.  What are some of the animals currently on exhibit at this aquarium?  Are there any animals that are unique to this aquarium?  If so, what are they?

Second stop…Alaska Sea Life Center – http://alaskasealife.org

Alaska is so far away!  There are many forms of sea life in Alaska that might differ from those in Baltimore.  Do you notice anything unique about the exhibits?

Third Stop…Miami Seaquarium - http://www.miamiseaquarium.com/index.htm

Miami is full of marine life.  The Miami Seaquarium is famous for Lolita the Killer Whale and Flipper the Dolphin.  The manatee is also an important marine mammal that is danger.  If you’d like, post a message for the manatee.

Final Stop…Aquarium of the Bay – http://www.aquariumofthebay.org

The Aquarium of the Bay is located over 3,000 miles from Baltimore in San Francisco, California.  Look at some of the marine life exhibits on display at this aquarium.

After our whirlwind trip around the country examining marine sea life, let’s dock our sailboat and discuss what we saw.
