Activity 1 - Teacher Made Sites
For this activity, I found and cited
two teacher made websites. I then
critiqued each site. This page contains
brief descriptions noting the grade level, subject, and usefulness of each
site. I have also offered commendations
and recommendations for each site.
http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/gentilem/elecact1.htm
For this
activity, I created a list of ten items of Email suggestions
and tips for my first-grade students. These tips include things they need to
remember when using email and suggestions for effective communications.

Activity 3 - Translation
For this
activity, I made a list of five instructional situations in which translation
would be a valuable tool. I also
translated pieces of text written in English into 2 languages, using 3
different translation engines. A link
is provided for the articles/sites I chose to translate.

Activity 4 - Safety on the Web
For this
activity, I made an Internet safety checklist and agreement for students, their
parents, and myself to sign before using the school Internet. I also typed a letter to parents letting
them know what safeguards I use to provide their child with safe access to the
Internet. To see the letter click

Online Course Modules
Course Module
One - Creating Your Own Website
I designed a course module based on the
"Websites for Teachers" elective activity under the
"Instruction" category. This
is a 2-part activity. The main teaching
point of this activity is having the student research and compare different web
hosting companies and give a recommendation to a colleague of which company is
best and why. Then the student is to
create their own webpage as if they were going to register it. This module
would be a nice follow-up to the Teacher Made Websites activity because it lets
you create your own "teacher made" website after viewing others.

Course Module
Two - Summer Links
I designed a course module to solve the
age-old question that parents ask at the end of each school year, "What
can I do at home with my child so they do not loose any skills over the
summer?" The assignment is to
create an annotated list of at least 8 sites that pertain to the subject(s)
that the student (the classroom teacher) teaches. The criteria is listed and a rubric is included.

WebQuest
Martin Luther
King Jr. Webquest
For this
webquest, students will explore the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by
visiting 2 illustrated timelines created by children around the country. They will then listen to a few of Dr. King's
famous speeches and look at some historical photographs from his life. When the tour is complete, students will do
a little role-playing and pretend they are Dr. King. They have several questions to answer and the final product will
be a well-developed paragraph written from the eyes of Dr. King!
