Temperature Testing

Introduction:

Students will be able to use the Frederick County Outdoor School website to get information needed for the 2 day field trip to study water quality and wetlands.

Problems:

1.  What is the procedure to measure air and water temperatures?

2.  Based on the recorded data from May 21, 2001, what might you predict the temperatures to be this year for our field trip?

Give a 5 degree range prediction for air temperature and water temperature for May 21-22, 2002.

Two types of temperatures will be taken.

              Air temperature

              Water temperature

1.  Compare the two testing procedures.  What are the differences?

2.     Use the table provided to determine the temperature range for crappies, bluegills, and bass.

3.              Analyze the data collected on May 21-22, 2001. Identify the range (low - high) of temperatures for:

a.         air

b.         water

4.  What school provided this data?
