Introduction

Those of us who did not live during racial segregation have a tendency to take our integrated lives for granted.  We watch integrated sporting events, we attend integrated schools, and we eat at integrated restaurants without thinking about them as "integrated."  It was not always this way.  Brave men and women risked their lives in order to change our society; their efforts should not be forgotten.
