After learning how to decide if a website is valid, students will analyze three web sites and compare them.

Step 1: Read the following website and decide if you think it has valid information or not.

         http://www.castellobanfi.com/features/story_3.html

Step 2:  Complete step 1 with the following website.

         www.mariner.org/age/columbus.html

Step 3: Compare the two sites by answering the following questions. (Remember you can highlight the following questions and paste them in a Word Document or write them on a piece of lined paper.)

1.    What information did you receive that is the same in both sites?

2.    What information is different?

3.    After reading both of them, do you feel that the information can be valid, or true? Why or why not?

4.    Are both authors knowledgeable enough to write about Christopher Columbus?  How do you know that?

Step 4:  Complete step 1 again with the website below.

         http://int.cysd.k12.pa.us/Columbus/christopher_columbus_site_.htm

Step 5:  Answer the following questions.

1.    Is this site valid?

2.    What information is different from the last two sites?

3.    Out of the three sites which would you use to complete a report and why?

Step 6: When you complete any project using the Internet think about it’s validity before you use the information.
