After reviewing the four websites, and considering
the assignment presented to the students, I would send them to the Skillman
& Kirby Libraries for their web resource information.
I felt that the Skillman & Kirby
website was the most clear and concise of the four sites. Not only were all the
components of the web resources listed but, under each component, you were
given tips as to where to find the information if it was not clearly stated.
Although The MLA Style was the style required for this assignment, both the MLA
and the APA styles were shown and compared. The “For More Information “ at the
end of the website contained information about how to cite information from
emails, and discussion groups as well as frequently asked questions.
The Write Source website would
probably have more graphic appeal to the students, with its use of black and
bright colored bubbles. While it too contained a thorough list of the elements
necessary in online resources, there were no clues listed as to where to find
the information. There were several examples listed and notes appeared under
the examples to clarify certain areas.
The Indiana University Libraries
site contained some information not included in the other sites, but overall, I
found this site a little harder to read.
The Classroom Connect gave
instructions on how to site several different areas of information such as from
emails, sounds, images and video clips. The section on citing resources from
the World Wide Web was good but contained only one example and no tips or clues
as to where to find the information.
After reviewing all of the sites
again, I still feel that the Skillman & Kirby website was the easiest to
follow and contained the most useful information for the high school students
doing this assignment.
I will be using MLA format for all
