  1. The World of Math Online-A site for both teachers and parents. Homework help in seven different math topics from basic math to advanced topics.  Experts answer questions. Worksheets can be generated and there are games and puzzles. Many lesson plans and resources available. Date visited-February 16, 2002. www.math.com.

 

  1. Glencoe.com- A site set up by the textbook manufacture to use in conjunction with their books.  A chapter-by-chapter list of projects, and group and extended activities are listed for exact editions of the books.   1. Houghton Mifflin Education Place-A kindergarten through eight sites for teachers, this site is listed by subject area. The math section provides professional development, brainteasers, textbook support and additional math links. Special features include monthly themes and a link library.   1. abc Teach Network-A place for parents, teachers, student teachers and students. There are variety of items such as awards, maps, games, worksheets, puzzles, and theme units. Math and literature connections are provided. Geared towards elementary teachers but includes forums to help build online communication. Date visited-February 16, 2002. www.abcteach.com.

 

  1. National Council of Teachers of Mathematics- A teacher site that talks about the national teacher standards, publications, upcoming events and conferences. The teacher’s corner lists professional opportunities and web connections. Guidelines are presented on curriculum and assessment. Date visited- February 16, 2002. www.nctm.org.

Math Forum @ Drexel- An excellent site for students to ask questions and see the answers to frequently asked questions by other students.  Key issues in math ranging from kindergarten to college.  There are 21 math topics to choose from. This site also includes games and a problem of the week.  There is a teacher-to-teacher exchange of ideas, innovations and concerns in math. Date visited-February 16, 2002. www.askdrmath.com.

 

  1. Cool Math- Billed as an amusement park of math, this site features lots of graphics. For kids, there are five different math games and a variety of brain benders of different degrees of difficulty. In the ages 13-100 sections there are more in depth levels of math. The geometry and fractal areas link math to art. The teacher message board has ideas, resources and a feedback section. Parents also have a message board with tips and resources.   1. DiscoverySchool.com- A site for students, parents and teachers. Each sections offers study tools, games and advice. The teacher section has lesson plans for grades kindergarten to twelfth grade. There is a vast selection of clip art under 19 categories and over 150 pieces of art. You can create mazes, cryptograms and word searches using your own vocabulary.   1. All Math- A site that can be used by both teachers and students. The flashcards section allows you to select many problem types and to keep score. The two most interesting features are the math biography section and the glossary section. Click a letter of the alphabet and you can get a brief biography of a famous mathematician, or under the glossary, find definitions with many examples.  Teachers can print out multiplication tables and there is a metric conversion section.   1.  A+ Math- An elementary school site that  has a create your own flashcards section and math games.  The homework helper allows students to type in their problems and solutions.  The computer will check their solution.   1. AAA Math- The basic skills of math are showcased in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. There are 25 math topics to select from and each topic is broken down into different lessons. The lessons go through a learn section, practice section, a play section, and explore section, and a feedback section.  There are games and puzzles and links to other sites for games and puzzles. Expanding the Universe of Learning-This site has manipulatives for teachers and parents to choose from.  There is a quick product index for math, reading and science, that lists many topics.  Many of the products have pictures with them to show you exactly what you are getting.
