Introduction:
All teachers need lesson plans, but how do we locate those that work best for us? There are tons of lesson plans, but some work better based on the subject area you teach or grade level. Most schools require you to have lesson plans for substitutes. This activity could be used for these as well. Lesson plans can be found using common search engines like Google and Yahoo. They may also be found using educational sites own search engines. Many of the sites you will see will provide links to other lesson plan sites. All the material you find can be overwhelming! Be patient and look carefully.
During this activity you will learn how to better locate lessons that will be of the most useful for you. We will make a list of your own favorites for you to use in the future. Read through the activity and assignment so you don’t repeat any unnecessary steps. Make sure to write down anything and everything you think you may want to use for the activity/ assignment. Helpful tip – Copy and paste website addresses to a word document. Then type short meaningful notes next to the site link because you may need to refer to later!
Activity and
Resources:
Use a popular search engine and locate lesson plan sites. I would suggest Google or Yahoo. Look through at least fifteen websites and write down or copy and paste what they were and what you found useful for you, based on your subject area. Use key words like “lesson plans” in your search. You may want to add your subject area too. Don’t forget to use the lesson plans sites search engines too. KEEP GOOD NOTES!
