Introduction
It
is the cold and blustery morning of February 15, 1895 in London, England.
Last night the city had a tremendous turnout
for Oscar Wilde’s play “The Importance of
Being Earnest”. You and some of your
coworkers from a popular arts and society magazine attended
and have been assigned the job of reviewing the play for
the magazine. As a team you and your coworkers must write an extensive
article
that includes a critique of the play, an interview with Oscar Wilde,
and
reactions from the audience that attended.
You must keep in mind that your readers are staunch Victorians
and love
to hear about scandal! So you must include a detailed biography
of the
playwright. Your article will be read by the upper class citizens of London so your
review of
the play could make or break Oscar Wilde’s career!
